Krohn Racing was awarded one of 12 LMP2 entries for the 2015 ELMS season. The schedule includes Silverstone, England, April 10-11; Imola, Italy, May 16-17; Red Bull Ring, Austria, July 11-12; Paul Ricard, France, September 5-6; and Estoril, Portugal, October 17-18. The ELMS test will be held at the Paul Ricard Circuit on March 23-24. Last week Oswaldo (Ozz) Negri, Jr. was announced as a third driver to team owner/driver Tracy W. Krohn and longtime teammate Nic Jonsson for four of the five ELMS events.
For the 83rd annual 24 Heuers du Mans, Krohn Racing has be awarded one of 20 LMP2 entries in the 56-car field to participate at the Circuit de la Sarthe, Le Mans, France, June 13-14, 2015. The Houston, Texas-based team is one of four American entries, which also includes two cars for Extreme Speed (LMP2), two cars for Corvette (GTE-Pro) and the Scuderia Corse (GTE-Am) entry. Krohn's Ligier JS P2 is one of five Ligiers in the LMP2 field with two entered from Oak Racing and two from G-Drive.
"This is the result we were hoping for," said team owner/driver Tracy Krohn. "The ELMS offers a great series for a gentleman driver like myself and will provide a good mix of competition and excellent race tracks for our new Ligier-Judd. Having Nic (Jonsson) and Ozz (Negri) as my teammates in the series should provide both fun and success, although we know there will be some very competitive teams we'll be racing against. Having our entry to Le Mans accepted by the ACO will make 2015 all the better. This will be Nic's and my tenth consecutive Le Mans together as teammates and our first in the LMP2 class. Our previous outings have all been in the GTE-Am class in Ferraris with some success and I know he is looking forward to this year as much as I am. I would like to thank the ACO for the invitation to Le Mans and look forward to competing at the most prestigious race in the world."
A third co-driver for the 24 Hours of Le Mans will be announced at a later date. Krohn Racing received the No. 40 as their car number for the 2015 ELMS and Le Mans entries, a departure from the regular No. 57 which the team has used for many years.
The next race for the Krohn Racing team is the 12 Hours of Sebring Fueled by Fresh from Florida at Sebring International Raceway, Sebring, Fla., March 18-21, 2015.
