During the first six hours, Nic Jonsson started the Ferrari F458 and drove two stints before relinquishing it to team owner/driver Tracy W. Krohn. Krohn drove a double stint as well, including a drive in the rain of a couple of pop-up showers, which brought out several caution flag sessions.
Ben Collins was the third Krohn driver in the car and completed a clean and steady triple stint. He turned the car back over to Jonsson after 10:00 p.m local time.
BEN COLLINS, Driver, No. 57 Krohn Racing Ferrari F458 GTE-Am:
"We got going in a good position from Nic and Tracy's stints. We were running our own game and I knew I was going to be out there for a triple stint, to see how the tires held up, and that was the first I'd done in this car. We were anxious to see how that went. The car kept its balance all the way through. It was definitely tricky the last stint, as the tires were losing their friendly side. The car stayed in control and the advantage of staying out has hopefully played well for our strategy as we go into the night, and will hopefully keep us in a Top 10 position.
The car felt great on the brakes going into the night and at the high speed it started to get interesting. It's almost the hardest time because it's neither light nor dark, but we timed it perfectly because my fuel ran out just at the point that I climbed out of the car. Tracy went in with fresh eyes and it worked out well."
NIC JONSSON, Driver, No. 57 Krohn Racing Ferrari F458 GTE-Am:
"Obviously this is the first time I really have gotten to run at night, other than my five laps yesterday to qualify for it. The car is handling pretty well. Most people seem to be pretty sensible. The prototypes are a little wild, but otherwise everyone seems to be respectful out there in the dark. Our car's running well. A triple stint and on soft tires now, so I was very cautious and careful the first two stints because I had no idea if the tires were going to stick or take a big hit, but they stayed together well and stayed underneath me. So far the car has been good and has been running very consistently. We've been running a good pace now, basically at leader pace. So, we need to keep clicking them off and when the sun comes up, we'll see if we have a little more."
