Krohn Racing 12-Hour Race Report Rolex 24 At Daytona

After 12 hours, the No. 57 Krohn Racing Ferrari F458 is in 10th position in the Rolex 24 Hours At Daytona, with half of the iconic endurance event still to go.

After serving a penalty for passing under yellow, Swede Nic Jönsson drove for a double stint and was only five laps down from the class leader. In a race that has thus far been riddled with full-course cautions and even a red flag incident, Krohn Racing had hoped to stay out of trouble. However, during Andrea Bertolini's second stint in the Ferrari, he had contact with a GT Daytona car. The issue forced the Ferrari to the garage for minor repairs, but once back to the track, Krohn Racing was down 18 laps from the leader.

PETER DUMBRECK, Driver No. 57 Krohn Racing Ferrari F458 GTLM:
"It's very busy out there, a lot of traffic. There's a real mixture of driving abilities and all of a sudden, you'll pass eight cars and they're all fighting for the lead and you have to get by them. Our straight-line speed is maybe one of the slowest on the track, so it's very hard work to pass the traffic cleanly. They might be two seconds a lap slower than us but you just can't get by until they make a mistake. It's really difficult out there, but we're still running. The car is okay and there doesn't seem to be any big issues, so we'll just keep going as it is."

HAYDEN BURVILL, Krohn Racing Engineer
"Andrea had contact with a GTD Ferrari. It broke a left front upper suspension component that meant he had to come to the pits and then to the garage. We're fixing that and going to take the opportunity to change the brakes, which we were scheduled to do in the next hour or so anyways. We will service the car properly. We're very happy with the car otherwise; it's the fastest it's ever been, and Andrea is very disappointed he couldn't finish with his run. He was enjoying it and going really fast. The damage is modest compared to what could've happened and this is the kind of thing that we're prepared for."

ANDREA BERTOLINI, Driver No. 57 Krohn Racing Ferrari F458 GTLM:
"It's a shame because the car was good, the tires were consistent, and we were moving very well. We changed a bit of the car; we took off some rear wing so we could be faster in a straight line. I was completely next to another Ferrari and he pushed me off."
