Tracy Krohn to Race in ALMS GTC at 6 Hours of Laguna Seca

Tracy W. Krohn is stepping out of his usual role as Krohn Racing team owner/driver to be a weekend racer in the American Le Mans Series Monterey Presented by Patron 6 Hour race at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, May 10-12.

Kevin Buckler, of The Racer's Group (TRG), has invited Krohn back to the cockpit to pilot the No. 68 GTC 911 GT3 Cup Porsche in the six hour ALMS race. Buckler and Krohn had previously teamed to run a Daytona Prototype in the Grand-Am series in 2005, prior to Krohn starting his own team. Krohn Racing currently competes with the No. 57 Ferrari F458 in the World Endurance Championship (WEC) and travels internationally to eight global races, including the renowned 24 Hours of Le Mans. Additionally, Krohn annually competes in Grand-Am's 24 Hours of Daytona with a Daytona Prototype.

"It's going to be really fun. I haven't been to Laguna in too long," said Houston, Texas-based Tracy Krohn, whose last Laguna race was in 2010 with a Top 10 finish. "It's a great track and we really like that part of the world. We'll be in a GTC Cup car, a Porsche, so that will be fun. I haven't been in a Porsche in awhile either. It's an ALMS format race so it's not unlike the WEC race we just drove at Spa, but a different car. It's always an interesting experience at that track. No two laps are ever the same. It is always changing track conditions, not unlike what it was like at Spa last Saturday. I'm looking forward to running with Kevin and his group. It's been many years and we've had some success in the past so look forward to seeing what we can do. We have a very good driver lineup with Porsche GT3 driver Mike Hedlund and European Supercup racer Nick Tandy."

TRG will run a second 911 GT3 Cup Porsches in GTC at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca this weekend. In addition to the No. 68 Porsche of Krohn and teammates, the No. 66 entry will compete with TRG drivers, Emilio Di Guida, Jeroen Bleekemolen and World Challenge driver Bret Curtis.

Kevin Buckler started The Racer's Group in 1992, with Laguna Seca as his home track. His familiarity with the beautiful and challenging 2.238-mile, 11-turn circuit is evident in TRG's outstanding record at this iconic track, including ten podiums with three wins.

The 6-hour race will be streamed live on ESPN3 Saturday, May 12, 2012 at 4:15 EDT, and the television broadcast of race highlights will be on ESPN2 on Sunday, May 13, 2012 at 5:00 pm EDT.
